IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Practice Closure
August 28, 2026
After much thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to close my naturopathic practice. My final day of practice will be August 28, 2026, as I transition into a new career.
This decision was not an easy one. I have truly loved being a naturopathic doctor and continue to be amazed by the impact that naturopathic medicine can have on people's health and well-being. More than anything, I feel incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of working with so many wonderful individuals who entrusted me to be part of their health journeys. Your support, trust, and the relationships we've built over the years have meant more to me than I can express.
If you would like to review your current treatment plan, discuss your ongoing care, or renew any prescriptions before my practice closes, please book an appointment before August 28, 2026. This will also provide an opportunity to discuss any next steps for your care. If you have an appointment booked after August 28th it has been cancelled on your behalf.
Please note that I will not be able to authorize prescription refills after August 28, 2026. If you anticipate needing refills, please book an appointment before my final day of practice. If you cannot find a time, email me at hello@themenopauseND.com.
Your patient portal will no longer be accessible after August 28, 2026. If you would like copies of your receipts, laboratory results, treatment plans, or any other documents available through the portal, please log in and download them before that date. If you have any questions or need assistance, please book an appointment before the practice closes.
Although my practice will be closing, your health records will continue to be securely maintained in accordance with the requirements of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)for the required retention period.
After August 28, 2026, you may request a copy of your health record for yourself or have it transferred to another healthcare provider. Requests will continue to be accommodated, and a reasonable administrative fee of $50 may apply, as permitted under applicable legislation.
Simcoe County is extremely fortunate to have many amazing naturopathic doctors working here. For those of you who would like to continue working on their health with qualified and caring NDs I will suggest the following:
Dr. Karen Snow, ND: Karen operates a general family practice in Thornton and Cookstown. She is passionate about teaching her patients to optimize their health through diet and lifestyle changes with the ultimate goal of improving health and preventing disease. She offers both in-person and virtual appointments.
Rooted Naturopathic Clinic: This clinic has 8 NDs who each have their own focus. Dr. Martha Sharpe ND, an amazing member of the team, is also a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). This clinic also boasts an IV suite, and appointments are in person only.
Thank you again for allowing me to be part of your care. It has been a true privilege to support you, celebrate your successes, and work alongside you toward your health goals. I wish you continued health and happiness in the years ahead.
With sincere gratitude,
Dr. Erika Schimek, ND
